The Commander of the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) led a senior delegation to Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) on Tuesday to discuss expanded cooperation in aerospace and defense, underscoring deepening strategic ties between the two air forces.

During the tour, the delegation inspected KAI’s aircraft development and production facilities and expressed strong interest in the KF-21 Boramae program, along with maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), training, and integrated support capabilities.

According to KAI, the Saudi delegation positively assessed Korea’s advanced fighter development experience, systems integration expertise, and robust lifecycle support model.

The RSAF commander attended a KF-21 mobility demonstration and received an on-site briefing covering the aircraft’s development status and key performance attributes. KAI outlined the KF-21’s design philosophy, operational flexibility, and growth potential, including its role within a next-generation air combat system roadmap.

The KF-21 is a modern 4.5-generation fighter featuring stealth shaping for improved survivability and optimized performance in joint and combined operations. It is designed for air superiority and precision strike missions, with planned upgrades such as indigenous precision-guided munitions integration and manned–unmanned teaming.

KAI confirmed that the KF-21 successfully completed its final development flight tests earlier this month, with serial production aircraft scheduled to begin induction into the Republic of Korea Air Force in the second half of this year.

KAI is positioning the KF-21 for Saudi Arabia’s ongoing 4.5-generation fighter acquisition program, proposing a comprehensive partnership that spans operations, sustainment, training, and industrial cooperation aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.

Building on the visit, KAI will engage regional stakeholders at the Singapore Airshow (Feb. 3–8) before participating in the World Defense Show (WDS 2026) in Riyadh (Feb. 8–12), as it seeks to expand its footprint across the Middle East through strategic partnerships.
